Project 1 (Group) : Diagramming Architectural Principles: Diagram Analysis

In a group of 4, we chose Sou House designed by the Atelier Thu, Japan to interpret and understand the architectural principles, architectural diagramming and model interpretations.

As a group of 4, we need to separate and accomplish tasks for each one of us to complete in 3 weeks. During the duration, were learned and applied new things, new lessons and new techniques in our assignment, through new understanding of advanced architectural forms and principles though there were some complications resurfaced due to class schedules and time differences. The assignment has led to better understanding of the design thinking process.

Project 2 (Group) :  Designing with Architectural Principles and Materiality: Architectural Folly

In groups of 3, we required to create a timber folly based on the tectonics and materiality of timber studies, extraction of architectural principles and distinctive characteristics of the given Architectural Folly.

A 6-week assignment assigned equally to 3 of us, was indeed a little bit of a challenge perhaps understanding each one's ability and prospects. The assignment was a continuation from the previous assignment but channeled with a twist. We studied on compression of users through sizes of spaces, and wanted to create a unique sensorial journey for the user have a very special spatial experience.

Project 3: Designing with Architectural Principles, Materiality, Context and User: Tropical Solitary Haven

Based on our given site, the Subang Ria Recreational Park, we were to conduct a site analysis and responses in order to design a studio that would accommodate 2 users. According to the brief, we are required to built using appropriate timber materials, site context and responses and timber construction details.

For our final project, we were assigned to design a studio by the park for 2 specific users, in context with our given site and generate a design narrative and concept. The process of understanding the user and site context defined infinite complications. I enjoyed working on this project and learning more about site studies, narratives and etc.
